We at The Upper Room Fellowship are very glad that you are considering the possibility of visiting us and hope that your time with us will become invaluable to you. But we know that visiting a church for the first time can be confusing, like you’ve wandered into a stranger’s family reunion. Everyone else seems to know what to do, but you have no clue. With that in mind, here is some information that may be helpful to you as you are new to our church.
We are what many would call a contemporary, non-denominational, Spirit-filled church. The Upper Room is Bible based, and Jesus is the central focus.
At the URF, it is our sincere desire to share God’s Word in all its truth without watering anything down, but to do it in love, and in ways that are interesting, engaging and relevant to your daily life. If you attend one of our services, you will hear the truths of God’s Word presented passionately, clearly, and lovingly in ways that will make sense to you.
We see worship as the door that enters God’s presence. The worship band seeks to lead us through that door each week. Contemporary worship is the norm for Sunday mornings, but there are times when timeless hymns are used to bridge the gap between heaven and earth. For us, it isn’t as much about style as it is heart.
There are several opportunities for your kids to learn and fellowship with their peers. Sunday School meets during the second half of our Cafe service, and nursery and Young Disciples meets during the second half of our Celebration service. All of these classes and programs are staffed by dedicated workers. It is our opinion that kids benefit by being involved in our worship services. Not just so that they can learn to worship, but so that they can worship and minister themselves.
Offerings are given as an act of worship for attendees who consider The Upper Room their home. At The Upper Room, we teach and believe in Biblical stewardship. For new visitors, your presence is a gift to us. We want you to be blessed by the service without feeling any obligation to give.
Our first service runs from 9:30am to 10:30am. Our second service starts at 10:45 am and we try to conclude our service around 12:15pm. However, we don’t like to set a time frame. We do our best to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in every service so that we don’t rush through or unnecessarily prolong our service times.
We know you might be worried about wearing the right thing when you come to church; we invite you to come as you are. Whether you are more comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt, polo and khakis, or a suit and tie, you’ll fit right in at The Fellowship.
