Karen Hawkins – YWAM since 1994 Karen began her relationship with the Lord at age 16 here at the Upper Room in 1975. She’s traveled and ministered in 14 countries serving in many areas, such as working in orphanages, hands-on building churches and houses, teaching and mentoring, always sharing of Jesus’ love. Karen brings her passion for strengthening and encouraging others into her work in YWAM. Much of her focus of the past several years has been on the partnership between assistants and leaders. In her 17 years as assistant to Peter Iliyn, she served the North American Office’s support for over 130 YWAM locations in the U.S. and Canada. She has pioneered and organized the annual Mission CEO’s Assistant Retreats for the past nine years. She takes every opportunity to teach in workshops on being an assistant to a ministry leader using her book, Assistants and Leaders, Building Effective Ministry Partnerships as the foundation. She continues to coach assistants one-on-one. She also has gained training in many aspects of pastoral care and is part of teaching member care seminars as well as providing care for missionaries in missions beyond YWAM. lambslove@mac.com
